After being absent for most of last week, I am trying to get back into regular blogging again….until we leave for vacation on Wednesday at least. To day I trudged down the hill to the fitness room. It was short walk, but the walk there and back felt as grueling as the workout! We “only” got about 8 inches (it’s all relative with this storm!), but with the wind and the drifting, I felt like I was fighting to stand upright a couple of times! But I made it and had a really good elliptical workout while watching “Freaky Friday.” That was a cute movie. My workout flew by! And it got me revved for my last day of cramming.
I spent about 4 more hours studying for chemistry. This is the final that never ends! There was the first part that I took last Wednesday, take home portion, and then tomorrow’s final section that covers material from the last part of the semester. I think I’m ready. I’m a little shakey on visualizing orbitals and subshells, but I think I’ve got the rest down. I’m just so excited to be almost down! This was a grueling semester with biology and chemistry and statistics all at once. Medical Terminolgy wasn’t bad. Next semester won’t be as tough (I hope). I have microbiology and chem. 2, but no statitics. That was the class that pushed me right over the edge!
I am celebrating tomorrow by getting my hair cut. I haven’t had my hair cut since July!! I really need it. But I have never been to this salon, so I’m a little nervous. We’ll also be going out tomorrow evening to celebrate Dave’s birthday and my (freedom!). His birthday is today, but I had to study, and we’re snowed in. So we had a quiet birthday, with presents and a special dinner for Dave. This is a man who has no taste for food. He has his standbys, as he explained in his post last week (Honey Nut Cheerios, Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, Toll House cookies…). But aside from that, he never really craves anything or gets excited about anything food-related. So when he said today that he’d like to make a lobster for his birthday, I thought it was great! He wanted it so badly, he dug out his car (and mine too!) and ventured out into the snow for his lobster!
He made it all by himself. And he even cleaned it all up afterward!
I had some veggies that needed to be used up before we leave for Christmas on Wednesday, so I had some more broccoli slaw “pasta” with chickpeas, and a half of an acorn squash that was absolutely perfect!
Very tastey!
Time to relax and clear my head of chemistry. The birthday boy is already warming the couch for me!

Enjoy getting your hair done!! I love getting mine done and having it feel so fresh and light afterwards. Happy Birthday to Dave!!
Glad he got his lobster fix!!
Thanks! I always feel good after getting my hair cut. It will be a great reward for getting though my exam!
Oh how neat! HAve you seen Julie and Julia? That’s what this lobster reminds me of
She makes one in the movie, although it looks like Dave’s experience went a little more smooth. That was so nice of you to go out and get a lobster in the 8 inches of snow!
Good luck with the hair cut. I’m sure it will be fine. Just have confidence, and tell her/him exactly what you want! Sometimes people aren’t clear with their wishes, and then they get pissed with the results. Just be straight with them and it should go well.
Good luck with the last exam!
That was a great movie! And a great scene!
I can’t wait to get my hair cut…I’ll be sure to be clear about what I want
Happy Birthday to Dave!
Good luck with your exam!
And, I look forward to seeing the new haircut!
Thanks! I’ll post a hair picture tomorrow
Happy Birthday to Dave!
I love love love lobster. We are having it on Christmas eve and I cannot wait.
Enjoy your haircut tomorrow and good luck on your last final. Your dinner sounds like a great celebration!
Oooh! Lobster for Chrstmas. We’re having crab, which I also adore!
i totally had acorn squash tonight too! yumm!
ive NEVER had lobster..ive heard its great!
You need to try lobster! It’s such a treat! We have an annual family lobster bake each summer. It’s the highlight of the summer!
Enjoy your haircut. You deserve a little pampering. The best part is when they shampoo and do a little massage. Have a great time!
I like Dave’s meal tonight!
I know! I can’t weight to get my hair washed. That is such a nice feeling! You can’t quite recreate it yourself. Someone else has to do it!
That lobster looks so cute, I can’t believe he braved the snow for one. I am glad you have vacation coming up and I hope you did well on all your exams. I know how tough that chemistry is. I try to keep as much chemistry out of my classroom, but with nutrition it is tough since there is so much chemistry involved. Have a great winter break.
Can I take your classes?! I actually think chemistry is really interesting. But the pressure of needing to repeat it back in a test is scary!
Happy Birthday Dave!
It’s so funny that 8 inches is relative! Yikes!
You are going to kick butt on that last exam!
Thanks! I’m so nervous!
That lobster looks like it’s trying to reach out and shake my hand. Haha.
I haven’t had my hair cut since July either! but I wasn’t able to get an appointment after work before Christmas. Soooo a haircut has become my New Year’s resolution.
