I am so incredibly touched by the kind comments and emails I have received after announcing our wonderful news. It is such an exciting time and knowing that so many people share in our excitment is a great feeling!
On a less exciting note, I spent 7 hours on chemistry. 3 hours studying, and then 4 hours taking the test. I didn’t feel really good coming out of this test, but after 4 hours straight, I was just glad to be done! I just layed down for about 20 minutes and am feeling a bit better. The biggest symptom I’ve had has been fatigue. I do great all morning, but about 3:oo every day, I feel like I hit a wall. Fortunately, with a student’s schedule, I have the luxury of being home a lot so I can take study breaks in my bed!

Instead of catching you up on some of my eats over the last couple of days, I want to share some more exciting news with you. When you read this, Dave will most likely be on the stage of a comedy club here in Boston. I know! Sounds kind of random, huh? But the truth is, Dave has been a big fan of comedy and stand up his whole life and has taken advantage of many opportunities to be on stage over the years. Louie Anderson was his hero growing up, and when a chance meeting with Louie on an airplane led to a job as Louie’s manager, Dave was in heaven! He traveled with Louie for a couple of years before leaving to go to business school. But he never lost touch with Louie or lost his love of comedy.
Last fall, you might remember, we went to see Louie perform when he was in Foxboro. He has a standing gig in Vegas, but on weekends, often travels to different cities. It was so much fun.
And even more fun, was when Louie used a joke on stage that Dave had written. It was the highest compliment he could have been given! Afterward, Louie said, “You ever want to open for me in Vegas, you got it!” Dave laughed it off, but I kept on him, telling him he would always wonder if he didn’t jump at that opportunity.
So a couple of months later, Dave called Louie and said, “You know, if the offer is still open…” Well, the offer was still open and now, on April, 25th, 26th, and 27th, Dave will be doing the opening act for Louie’s show at the Excalibur in Vegas! Imagine….not only being able to perform in such a place, but to be able to open for the person who has been your lifelong hero and mentor!
So Dave is off tonight to do an open mic night here in Boston. I’ve heard the bits he’s put together and he is going to do great! He hopes to get in a few nights of practice locally before he hits the big time in April.
I am so excited to go to Vegas. I have never been, but think it sounds like a fun place to experience. It is also going to be a great family reunion with Dave’s family, my family, several friends, and a handful of coworkers all coming to watch. We are going to fill that audience!
We had been planning to go to Belize in March, during my break from school. But with my fatigue, and inability to do a lot of the fun things we wanted to do in the jungle (horseback riding, dayhikes, etc.), we decided to cancel. I was also a little concerned about the medical care at the hospitals there should anything go wrong. It was disappointing to cancel the trip, but I know we will go another time (just with a baby strapped to our back!). And having such an exciting trip in April, lessens the disappointment tremendously.
My brain is fried after all that chemistry, so I plan not to do a whole lot tonight. If I am still awake at 8:30, I will be impressed! It wasn’t a particularly fun day, but it was productive. And winning Kristin‘s giveaway (my first win ever!!), made my day!
Thank you all again for being so excited for us! Even though I had to spend the weekend studying, reading your comments had me smiling the whole time!

How exciting for Dave – I hope he has a great time at the open mic night – and Vegas will be so fun!
I haven’t been to Vegas since I was 10 – I think its a tad bit different now though…
Maybe your baby is already bringing you some good luck
