So I’ve told you the baby news. And I’ve told you the exciting trip we have in April when Dave will be the opening act for Louie Anderson at the Excalibur. But we have one more exciting thing on the horizon…and tomorrow marks the beginning of it. Tomorrow morning we have an appointment with our realtor to visit 5 or 6 promising properties. This is the year we buy a house…..and hopefully we can pull it off before I am too big and too uncomfortale to be much help in the move! We would love to be moved in and settled before the baby arrives in October. It might be tough, but our realtor knows our timeline and she’s really good at what she does.
I have rented so many different apartments and homes since graduating from college. I have never really felt settled. I am thrilled to be on the verge of finding a place to call home….somewhere we plan to be for more than a couple of years. I grew up in the same house until I left for college, and my parents still live there (Lucky for me since I grew up on Cape Cod and still have a Cape house to crash at anytime!). I know some people love the excitement of moving around. But I am definitely someone who likes to feel part of a community. I hope that we find that in this move.
Do you like moving and living in different places or would you rather stay put somewhere?
I have had that excitement in the back of my head today while trying to plug my way through my chemistry practice problems. If anyone out there is a whiz at chemical kinetics and rates of reactions, I want to be your new best friend!
I finished the assignment (with the help of my genous brother) and am now ready to enjoy Friday pizza and LOST. This is an extra exciting LOST night because, with Dave away last week (and with both of us forbidden to watch our show alone), we now have two episodes on the DVR! We are going to have a real predicament in a couple of weeks when Flash Forward returns….which show will get the coveted Friday night slot?! We are such nerds!
In the interest of getting right to the evening’s entertainment, I am blogging now, before dinner. The pizzas are in the oven and ready when Dave gets home from work. I can, however, show you an especially yummy lunch…
I love being home at lunch time and being able to make a real meal, instead of packing my lunch for work, like I did for so many years. Today, had a banana, and made a spinach, tomato, and cheese omelet. On the side, I steamed broccoli slaw that I mixed with Laughing Cow cheese and tomato. Yum!
Here, you see the banana. The onelet. The broccoli slaw. And oh! What’s that on the right hand side?! My food safety inspector! Rudy likes to make sure that anything I eat is up to code!
It was very good, although I could have done without the piece of cat hair that made its way on my plate!
I hope you all have a wonderful Friday night. I hope I can report back about a successful first run in the search fo rour dream house!

WOW!! 2010 has proven to be a year of exciting changes for yall!! Owning your own home is awesome. Have lots and lots of fun searching for the perfect home for yall. Andrew and I became addicted to HGTV shows when we were in the process of buying a home. We learned a lot from those shows actually!!
Good luck house hunting!! I hate moving, but Love going to open houses and stuff. I love house hunters!
You are having an amazing year!!!
i live in one place for 20 years and finally moved last year – it was amazing home much junk i had – it was harder than i remembered – as a realtor, it was sure different being the buyer
Have a great time looking at houses tomorrow! I am so happy to be settled now, after moving so many times during college. I love to travel, don’t get me wrong, but I love having a place that feels like home, too!
I definitely hear you on being settled. I like traveling, but I want my home to be home. Plus, moving is a serious pain- I can’t imagine anyone likes that!
I bought my house a little over a year ago now. I think we starting looking in Octoberish…and bought a house in December so it definitely can be done. I had a friend who was looking for a house while pregnant and they found it RIGHT before she had the baby, so she had a baby and moved 4 days later. She said it wasn’t as bad as you would think. I’m not convinced though, I think they were too picky- they looked at more houses than anyone I know haha.
Good luck on the first house search. I’d love to know where you are looking but you prob don’t want to post that on the blog haha
Good luck!
Oh how exciting!!! I hope your search goes better than it is going for Nick and I. I mean we have found many cute houses, but now we are stuck on two that we love, but I like one, he likes the other. He keeps saying “WE’ll choose your house” but I know he doesn’t really like it! I don’t want to move into a house that he doesn’t really care for. Ugh, it’s hard! Good luck to you, keep us updated!
Your Friday nights sound so similar to ours. We have to “save” shows from nights Nick has to work late, then they all accumulate until Friday and Saturday
Fun!
Hubby is military so I am all for moving right now. I think I had to be ready to accept that in order to be ready to marry him. I love traveling so it is a nice fit for us. At some point, when kids are older and need to be in HS, then I will be ready to stay put.
Good luck on the house buying adventure.
Congrats to your hubby for the opening gig. I used to live in Vegas, so If you have questions about entertainment and/or restaurants, let me know.
Good luck with the house hunting!
I grew up in the same house until I was about 21 – since then my parents have moved 3 times.
Moving is so exciting – although I royally hate it – it is exciting to be in a new place and to find your way around.
Good luck again – hope you find something…
That is so exciting! You will have so much to celebrate in 2010. I wanted to have a house to feel settled. It was a drag to rent and not ever feel like being at home. I am so glad we bought the house when we did!
Good luck on Chem! No help from me
First–congrats on the baby news! I’m a little late (been behind in my blog reading too!), but had to say congratulations! SO exciting!
Good luck on the house hunting! It will be so exciting to feel settled and that you have a legit home! I’ve constantly been moving the last 7 years and will again come June when I had back to San Fran…I’m really dreading the cross country move (like no other!), but once I get there, am settled, and around the fam again–I know I’ll be a happy camper!
ps you bringing up chemistry, gives me not so pretty flashbacks lol Just late nights, coffee, and biochem books! You’ll get it though
That is so exciting!!! You are just full of exciting news
I am definitely a restless person and love change. Moving is a pain though and I would like to not have to do that so often!
WOW! You and Dave are really in for some exciting times right now, huh? Congrats! I can’t wait for your to find your dream home. It’s going to be great. Plus, I can tell you are going to be an amazing little ‘nester’. Good luck with everything!
Hi Shannon!
I am new to your blog. What an exciting first post (for me).
First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy! What a great time in your life. Also, good luck on finding your home!
I only moved once in my life (alone)… from Switzerland to Iowa City when I was 16. It was great! My husband and I are ready to move again soon (lease is running out). We got a second apartment in Zurich, so I can be closer to my family, but I still want to live in the US (sometimes I need to get away and I love it here). So I guess we will be living in two places. Don’t know yet how that will go. I like to have a “home”.

I want your life!
I hate moving with a passion, but I love decorating. I’d like to get a condo soon. Houses are SO expensive in MA a condo is all I can afford, but I think they’re cute!
Good luck in the hunt…any chances you’ll look in the Bridgewater area???
What an amazing year girl! Enjoy every second of it! With us being military I love moving. I love never having to be in the same house for more than a couple months haha.
I have 4 dogs and a cat…. It always tastes better with cat hair in it haha
Good luck with your house hunting! I am so happy for you guys
Wow, what a big year ahead!
Good luck and have fun house hunting!
House hunting is fun… it is even better once you find something that you like and can call home…
I am definately happy that we own a home and I can paint the walls the color I want change the window treatments if I want and all.
