I used to keep Dannon Light n’ Fit in business! I bought their yogurt all the time and never really thought about the artificial sweeteners. Gradually, I have cut a lot of artificial sweeteners out of my diet. I still eat them, but I don’t eat them regularly and haven’t bought a Light n’ Fit for months. Well, this week, Dannon was on sale. And I saw this flavor:
Apple Pie! APPLE PIE! And for a limited time only! I glanced at the $1.99 Chobani and Oikos, and then the on-sale $.59 Dannon in APPLE PIE FLAVOR…..and put 3 in my cart.
All day yesterday I was thinking about what to do with my apple pie yogurt. And then it hit me….A topping for my very favorite pumpkin, apple, raisin combination!
Was it overly sweet? Yep. But here’s the thing…I love sweet! This was a great combination! Probably not the healthiest of yogurts, but as a dessert??? Apple, pumpkin, raisins, and calcium rich yogurt….not bad. I won’t go back to buying these again on a regular basis, but I have to admit, I do like them. Blasphemy in the blog world, but the truth.
I had a super productive day today finishing up my paper on the interview I did with Gina, and the powerpoint presentation that went with it. I’m just about done, but took a break for a very satisfying dinner.
A Dr. Praeger’s veggie burger on gluten free bread, with some mixed veggies. I stirred in some Laughing Cow too….is there anything you can’t add Laughing Cow to?!
It was wonderful. But let’s look a little closer at this picture…
That is a lima bean! I very carefully picked out about 15 lima beans from this serving of mixed vegetables. But this one got by me! First of all, there is no reason to have such a high ratio of lima beans to other veggies. Even if I liked lima beans, that would be too many. But I don’t like them. Its the only vegetable I can think of that I really, really hate. Other beans??? Bring them on! But limas? I will pick them out every time!
Any vegetable that you just can’t stomach?
Dave is back in Boston and on his way home shortly. I think we will celebrate with this week’s episode of LOST! Typically, that would be reserved for Friday night. But this week, Flash Forward is back!! 2 hours of it! So I think that will be the Friday night event this week!
I’d better sign off….. I’ve now told you: (1) I like artificially sweetened yogurt, (2) I pick out lima beans from mixed veggies, and (3) the highlights of weekends in this house are television dramas. I’m going to go hang my head now!

i can basically stomach ANY vegetable — it’s all about the prep!
No shame about the yogurt! I love Edy’s ice cream and it has about 1000 unpronounceable ingredients
Green peppers. I hate them!
Edy’s is my favorite ice cream brand! So many flavors!
I don’t think there is anything that can be too sweet for me. I have a huge sweet tooth. That combo looked delicious to me too.
Vegetable I can’t stomach = asparagus. It is all because of competition prep. Blech!
i love sweets – the sweeter the better – but for some reason i have always found crispy creme donuts too sweet, go figure (not that i have donuts anymore:( my taste buds have not really change since i have cut out most sugars which is strange too
I don’t think I’ve ever had a Krispy Creme!
The sweeter the better. I’m going to buy some Light N Fit Yogurt if it’s that sweet! YUM! Seriously though, is that yogurt unhealthy? It has artificial sweetener, but it’s not a cheese stuffed-crust pizza. I hate that some foods aren’t “healthy enough” for the blog world. I’m glad you eat what you like Shannon. Don’t change for the blog…rock on!
A vegetable I can’t stomach is onions. They make me gassy!
No shame in the tv game, the highlight of our weekends is watching Thursday night comedies on the dvr followed with an entire season of The Wire on dvd. We’re homebodies
This is why I love you
Light n’ Fit eating girl with Friday nights tucked away at home!
I love onions, but I avoid them for the same reason.
That dessert looks amazing! Matt and I spend Friday night in a similar way – if I am not doing homework!
I ate Edy’s Ice Cream last night – no worries about the yogurt – everything in moderation!
I really don’t think anyone is going to say anything about you buying light and fit yogurt. Artificial sweeteners hurt my tummy, but otherwise I’d eat them on occasion! Anyway, I eat Edy’s Ice cream practically every night and blog about it all the time, no one has had the balls yet to tell me thats not really “healthy living” haha.
Have an awesome weekend!
Great use of the yogurt, Looks good. The veggie I can’t stomach would be overly cooked spinach (smells too much for me) and I thought red peppers but those are my new fave and it seems I like brussels too.
I love sweet too! I have to look for this flavor…keep some around the house when I am craving a sweet treat
I used to buy Dannon Light ‘n Fit everyday also!! The only reason I stopped? B/c I figured I could buy the store brand for cheaper. No shame, Shannon!!
I’ll have to look for that flavor and treat myself, yum!!
I don’t really like onions too much b/c of the aftertaste, blech! But it they’re chopped up enough and well hidden in something, I can usually handle ‘em alright. But definitely not raw onions, no way Jose!!
I’m not much a fan of those sweetened yogurts, especially the artificial stuff because it always tastes weird to me or gives me headaches. Poor Lima, he just wanted to be your friend lol I don’t like raw onions at all and have to pick them out too
I wanted to make polenta pizza, have you ever made it without the polenta rounds, from scratch? Trying to decide what would be best
I haven’t been brave enough to make polenta from scratch. I always buy it from Trader Joe’s pre-made. But I need to give it a try…
i feel that way about pinenuts! if they come on a salad, I will carefully pick out each one, i can’t stand them blech…BUT I love almost all other nuts, justnot pine!
I also can’t stomach tempeh…something about the texture or fermented taste, I just can’t do it!!
MMM Love laughing cow!!
Oh! Me too! I hate pinenuts with a passion!
I recently bought light n fit too because it was on sale and was a little disappointed in the flavors I tried. I’ll have to try out the apple pie!
Glad the paper went well! you had to do a power point too?? That’s interesting…if you need any iStock photos I can send some to you! We have TONS downloaded for our business.
I’m not a fan of lima beans either, at all. I would probably still eat them if they were in a salad, at a LOW ratio, but a lot? Nope, too gross.
The apple pie yogurt sounds really good. I would probably try it too, despite the sweeteners. Everything in moderation!
Did you watch Flash Forward?? Probably not without Dave…. Nick and I were kind of disappointed. It was not as god as we had hoped, but still VERY entertaining. And of course I had nightmare about getting shot last night, ugh.
I love sweet too! Thanks for stopping by. Glad you found the post useful. Good luck staying active during this pregnancy!
